Twitter handle: How and why govt erred and what it can do to be smarter & more effective

Indian government is acting like Chinese government. The government’s intention was clear when the senior cabinet minister Mr. Kapil Sibbal said 6 months ago that govt. is thinking of erecting a firewall to restrict access to particular sites and networks.

In the wake of Assam riots, Government is trying to ban and restrict social media. The govt. officials brought down hate speech and literature and blocked certain blogs and websites. Govt. also asked Google, Facebook and Twitter to block some content and accounts used to spread rumors. But in between all this the govt. also blocked parody twitter accounts of the Prime minister’s office and accounts of RSS leaders, these accounts were not invovled in any sort of objectionable stuff, the government wants to restrict the right of freedom of speech which is really sad considering India is world’s biggest democracy.
