Apple's iPod touch pricing doesn't leave space for the iPad mini
Now that the iPhone 5 has been released, everybody is anxious to know more about the next Apple gadget which is expected to be announced in an october event.
Apple is surely going to introduce a scaled down version of its highly popular tablet, the 10 inch iPad and speculations are that it would have a 7.85 inches screen rather than the 7 inch screen of Kindle fire and Nexus 7.
This so called “iPad Mini” is in response to the higlhly popular 7 inch Google and Amazon tablets but the real question would be pricing, Kindle Fire HD and Nexus 7 retails for a price of $199 and lacks cellular connectivity. So, Apple is most likely to price its new Tablet offering for a competitive price point to these tablets.
Now let’s have a look at the pricing of iPods and iPads.
iPod Touch 32GB- $299
iPad 2 16GB Wi-Fi - $399
The new iPad 16GB Wi-Fi- $499
Apple has priced its new iPod for $299 and the new 7 inch iPad mini will most likely have the very same config, albeit a bigger screen, So pricing it below an iPod is next to impossible, otherwise it would cannabalize the sales of newly anmounced iPod touch, so most probably it would carry a price tag of $349 where it would not compete with Kindle or Nexus 7 but with a generation old iPad 2.
