The Pale Blue Facebook, narrated by Carl Sagan

“On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives.”

New version of uTorrent getting advertisements in the form of 'featured' torrents

Although it is going to spoil the user experience a little bit, it is my favorite client till date, but Bittorrent has to monetize its tiny client, uTorrent in some way or the other, a good thing about the ‘Sponsored Torrent’ is that it would be relevent to the geographical locations.

Its time to act for Facebook, take corrective actions immediately, otherwise this sort of news could spell trouble in the coming time.

sefsar:

I’m not suggesting people don’t scroll, of course they do, but ofttimes they don’t. For those who may not have scrolled, Facebook sold invisible ad impressions; and they’re doing this with millions upon millions of ad impressions per day. Turkish Airlines, MobileCover.ie, The Dublin Web Summit, Dyslexia Dublin and Deal Machine were all charged for those ads. Only half the ads that loaded were actually visible, It’s lazy and scummy. Also, trust Facebook to put this on one of the lesser frequented page formats, far less likely to be noticed.

This is absolutely by design.

For anyone wondering if Facebook prioritizes between different advertising bid models, let’s look to their official stance on that:

All Facebook Ads and Sponsored Stories compete with each other to show for each impression, regardless of their bid model.

Campaign Cost and Budgeting, Facebook

Like I said, this is by design, of course it is.

Twitter’s Monetization Strategy

I was shown a promoted tweet (advertisement) by Universal Pictures about the upcoming movie, ‘The Bourne Legacy’ on its app for Android phones, the advert doesn’t intrude on my privacy, it is not put in the face, Big and Front, its just one tweet, that is not literally begging me to be clicked and is targeted in accordance to my interests.

Twitter seems to have cracked the nut, that is, to monetize its user-generated content and its awesome simple service, without pissing of its users, this surely seems to work.
